Custom designed for astrophotography. An 8" Ritchey-Chretien Astrograph telescope plus a super-stable mount and accessories.
This telescope package is ideal for astrophotography. Choose from one of our many cameras - or mount your own DSLR camera to the back - and you are ready to go.
Chose between the aluminium or carbon fibre OTA.
Ritchey-Chretiens deliver images with very little distortion. They have a flat field of view, so objects are in sharp focus right to the edge of the image. The image is coma-free, so stars at the edge of the field of view remain perfectly round. And there is no false colour because they use only mirrors with no correcting lens.
The 8" f/8 design provides enough aperture and a long enough focal length to give good image scale. It is ideal for smaller deep sky objects such as planetary nebulae, galaxies and small globular clusters.
GSO mirrors are made from optical quality quartz glass and are limited only by diffraction, which means they achieve the theoretical maximum resolution possible for the size of the mirror. They are machined and polished to better than 1/12 wavelength, sometimes 1/16 wavelength, which is considerably better than the industry norm. Each mirror is individually tested and hand-corrected if necessary after production, with final testing by laser interferometry.
The open tube and quartz mirror enables the telescope to cool quickly, with virtually no problems with dew. A computer-optimised baffle system minimises any stray light in the tube.
The carbon fibre OTA offers better thermal stability.
Like their predecessors, the CEM26 is designed with portability in mind, weighing in at only 4.5kg it can support up to a 12kg payload an incredible 2.6 mount weight to payload ratio. The key to enable such ratios is the CEM design focuses the mount and payload weight directly on the center of the tripod rendering “natural stability”.
Building on the legacy of earlier CEM models we have added features for convenience and functionality. A positive lock gear engagement system (easy to use even when wearing gloves), Built-in Wi-Fi enabling unparallel connectivity and recordable permanent periodic error correction (PPEC) to repeat optimal PEC training sessions. Regarding functionality the CEM26 delivers precise pointing and accurate tracking. The CEM26 sets the new standard for compact equatorial mounts.
The CEM26 comes with the iPolar electronic polar scope, a 1.5" heavy duty stainless steel tripod and an aluminium carrying case.
