About

We supply quality telescopes and astronomy accessories. Astronz is run by astronomers and our rule is that we only stock equipment that we would use ourselves.
Our mission is to promote Astronomy in New Zealand by providing quality equipment at a reasonable price.

We import and sell directly so we can give you the best value on the market.

Astronz is unique as we reinvest what we earn back into astronomy and science education throughout New Zealand. We have been doing this since 2000.

The Astronz team are all passionate about astronomy. We regularly use telescopes, including the ones we sell, so we can give expert unbiased advice about what is best for your needs. We only sell products that we are happy to use ourselves.

And because we regularly use our equipment, we can give you unparalled after sales advice and service. If you need help with one of our products, just ask.

We specialise in telescopes that you can do real astronomy with, and which are easy to use. We don't sell toys. We want you to be able to discover what is really possible with the right equipment and knowledge. You will get great views of the night sky and, unlike the cheap department store or camera store refractors, you won't outgrow your telescope in a few months.

If you are thinking about buying a telescope or would just like some advice, feel free to get in touch.

Charity

Astronz is a registered charity.
We donate profits to Astronomy.  Our purpose is to promote and foster the science of astronomy in New Zealand, to encourage and arrange the association of people interested in astronomy for their mutual help and organisation of astronomical work, to cooperate with other bodies having similar objectives to the Auckland Astronomical Society.

Charitable Giving Programme

Astronz's grant programme is funded with the profits from the activities of our shop. The grant programme promotes astronomy by:

  •  Furthering astronomy and science education and outreach
  • Supporting eligible astronomical and dark sky society activities
