The DayStar Solar Scout is a dedicated Hydrogen Alpha solar telescope, with an aperture of 60mm.

Study the suns Chromosphere and Prominences with this achromatic 60mm telescope that has been designed to provide accurate colour rendition and an image free of spherical and chromatic aberration.

The QUARK can be removed from the Scout OTA and inserted and used in many traditional telescopes with the addition of required adapters that are available separately.

The QUARK component is interchangeable on these SS60s solar telescopes. It will work with (the supplied) H-alpha, (optional) Sodium and (optional) Magnesium QUARK models, but not with Calcium due to various reasons. Optional drawtube adapter(s) are necessary for use of other QUARKs.

The Solar Scout is offered as an OTA-only option, so a mount and tripod are required for proper use. DayStar includes a Vixen-style dovetail plate which is compatible with many mounts, and a 1/4"-20 socket on the plate allows it to be directly attached to many photo, video, or field tripods. Also included is a solar finder for safe alignment during observation, and a hard carrying case to protect it when it's not being used.
