20 Megapixel, High Res, High QE, Back-Illuminated Cooled COLDMOS Camera
The QHY183C is a one-inch, 20 Megapixel back-illuminated colour CMOS camera with a peak QE of 74%. The pixel size is 2.4um, yielding high-resolution with modest size telescopes. The camera is capable of producing 15FPS@20 Megapixels. It has a two-stage TEC that cools the sensor to -40C to -45C below ambient. The ADC is 12-bit / 16-bit with 1e- read noise! The computer interface is USB 3.0 and exposure times can be set from 50us to 3600sec.
Sony's Image Sensor Exmor R is a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with improved sensitivity and noise reduction - the key factors to enhancing image quality, while radically realigning their fundamental pixel structure from front-illumination to back-illumination. It retains the advantages of CMOS image high-speed operation while dramatically improving sensitivity.
The QHY183C has a 128MB DDR Memory Buffer. A QHY183M 16-bit image is about 40MB, so 128MB of memory can easily buffer a full frame for transfer to the computer using QHY183M software with native single-frame shooting function, instead of intercepting a frame from a continuous video transmission. This makes data transfer to the computer stable and reliable because there is no USB bandwidth or busy CPU problems.
The QHY183C utilizes the Anti-Dew features common to the QHY COLDMOS cameras. A heated optical window prevents exterior dew from forming, and the CMOS chamber has a desiccant plug socket to prevent moisture from forming on the sensor at cold temperatures.
The QHY183C incorporates QHY's Anti-Amp Glow technology to significantly reduce typical CMOS amplifier glow to a minimum, allowing excellent calibration by subtracting a dark frame.

Let customers speak for us
from 126 reviewsI've used this on my 8" ASTRONZ Cassegrain and it gives a fairly sharp image across most of the field of view. Being a long focal length telescope at 2436mm I wanted an eyepiece that gives me that little extra field of view when compared to my other 30mm eyepiece.

We were looking to buying a telescope for a while and finally made a decision to get one through Astronz. Contacted Andrew on a Wednesday and wanted to check whether we could get it deliver to Christchurch and luckily Andrew was driving down to CHCH for the weekend and by Friday we had the telescope personally delivered at no cost. It was great to meet Andrew as a person and his wealth of knowledge and genuine passion made the whole experience great. I would highly recommend Astronz

Many more discovery to see through it. Red colour on the moon was lovely to see with.

I had used a non-laser collimator earlier and compared to that this laser unit was far easier to use and took only a couple of minutes.

works way better than the celestron one I was using. I still have the same issue with the thread sticking but no way as bad as the celestron one.

Great addition to my telescope
Makes looking at the sky much easier
Good quality , Great value .

Worked as designed and can be used on other rigs as well

It was exactly what I needed and would have taken me ages to source. Thanks so much for a great service!
Happy with the sales integration with staff. Goods arrived on time and in good order. Looking forward to a bright future dealing with new Astronomy supplier

Exactly what was needed with fast delivery. Great trade!!!

Much better than my old x3 Barlow which was to powerful for my Tasco Galasee 144mm/500mm telescope. Clear and sharp.

Yeah, not bad at all. Nice crisp and clear and far more ergonomic on my dobsonian than a straight through. Price is on point, well worth it.
