New Main: Flat Field Eyepieces

Flat field eyepieces, also known as wide-field flat-field eyepieces or flat-top eyepieces, are a type of telescope eyepiece that is designed to provide a flat field of view. In astronomy, a flat field of view means that the image seen through the eyepiece appears uniformly sharp and in focus across the entire field of view, with no blurring or distortion at the edges.

Traditional telescope eyepieces often suffer from field curvature, which causes the outer edges of the image to appear out of focus or distorted. This can be a particular problem when observing wide-field objects such as star clusters and galaxies, where the outer regions of the field of view are often the most interesting.

Flat field eyepieces are designed to correct for field curvature and provide a uniformly sharp image across the entire field of view. They typically use a complex optical design with multiple lens elements and special coatings to minimize internal reflections and enhance contrast.
